Neuro-therapy
Neuro-therapy is an exciting and rapidly expanding discipline that has huge mental health implications. Over the past five years I have become increasingly interested in this field and its applicability with clients. In my exploration I have come across several exemplary neuro-therapy tools. I have combined these tools into a specialized neuro-therapy program to address a number of problems that block client's ability to make progress. Some symptoms of these neuro-developmental blocks include:
- Sensory problems (Including hyper or hypo sensitivity as well as sensory integration)
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- ADHD
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Impulse control (Including domestic violence)
- Focus and concentration problems
- Reading and other Learning Disabilities
- Language processing problems (word finding, slow speech patterns, etc.)
- Age-related cognitive decline
- Visual processing problems
- Auditory processing problems
- Balance and other vestibular related problems
What is very exciting to me is that the underlying neuro-developmental deficiencies that are often the cause of these debilitating symptoms can be ameliorated or eliminated at the neurological level. Although there are some exceptions, the use of these tools is safe and effective. The three primary tools are: HANDLE, Integrated Listening System, and Interactive Metronome.
